Find Creative Financial Aid For Your Degree Programs Online!

With this current economy, making ends meet is getting pretty tough. It can be even tougher while participating in degree programs online.  Even if you hold down a regular job and go to school, that won’t stop the landlord wanting the rent. And even if the federal government does offer the maximum for a Pell Grant ($5,750), it’s often not enough. This is one of the leading reasons why most students drop out in their first two years.

As it happens, the Board of Education is quite aware of this. It has developed supplemental programs on top of the Pell grant for students in extreme need. One of these programs is the Academic Competitive Grant (ACG). It can provide a freshman an additional $750 while a sophomore can get even more, an additional $1,300. With the Pell now at $5,750 this can mean a total grant ranging up to $6,500 to slightly over $7,000.

There are requirements that come with the ACG. First, a candidate must complete a FASFA form and apply for the Pell. The Board of Education decides if the applicant is entitled to the ACG. If so, it will send out an additional questionnaire that also must be completed.

Getting the grant doesn’t happen overnight either. One must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident and take a minimum of a half-semester’s worth of courses. While the money is supplemental to the Pell Grant, the total sum granted by both can’t exceed the cost of going to the university of choice.  These monies are to be used for educational purposes.

Speaking of the college, it must have an accredited program. High school is also important. The ACG require the student also go to a state recognized secondary school system. While the rules have been modified to allow for home schooling, there are two important provisos there. The first the home school must be recognized by the student’s local state. The second is the level of study must meet federal standards for “rigorousness”, i.e., it must cover certain basic points in science and the arts.

A student must also be planning to further his or her education in a predetermined group of curricula. The number of possible degrees a student can go for is pretty broad, and includes just about every form of science, tech, engineering, math, teaching and a number of liberal arts. For a full list of what is accepted, the best thing to do is go to the Board of Education’s website where further information is available.

There is another condition for students going into their sophomore year. They must have maintained a 3.0 average (out of a 4.0) in their first year, or whatever their university’s equivalent of a 3.0 is. The college also must be accredited. On the other hand, the school can be either on campus or online, as there is no distinction between the two.

The important point is that for on campus and online diploma there is supplemental money out there for those who need it. Another good source for graduate school scholarships is the financial aid adviser of your preferred school. For even more info, go to the ACG’s website. If you are trying to find creative ways to get your degree, and need more information about scholarships, research the internet.

Jobseekers are discovering now more than ever the need to be savvy when it comes to creating a standout resume and cover letter. The highly competitive job market and weak economy have left many searching for a new place of employment and many more realizing that college degrees will open the doors they need. Without the resources to properly match up professionals with the career they are best suited for, there are people that may feel like they are lacking in guidance.

Conversely, some of these individuals may feel that their qualifications will not be sufficient to compete with recent graduates of campus-based and online colleges. Those students who are fresh out of school have the most current knowledge of industry leading trends for their profession. They have the advantage of having their education and skills recently fine-tuned. Employers are also reviewing resumes and looking for an advanced degree as one of the qualifications for hiring the most optimal candidate.

Enrolling in an online degree program is a great opportunity to further your education without disrupting your schedule. Without having to face commutes of up to an hour one way, you can have more time to spend on studying and completing course materials. You can also expect lower tuition fees when enrolling in this type of program, as well.

There is also the convenience factor associated with being able to come home from a long day of work, and take a breather before beginning studies.  Online colleges are targeting working professionals who wish to continue their education without compromising the nature of their current schedule. The number of individuals making plans to return to college is growing rapidly. Online colleges are recognizing this by developing programs that suit the needs of these people, and allow them to pursue their education without the stress of rearranging their schedule or paying out of pocket for expenses such as childcare.

Students who wish to develop themselves on a professional level, whether seeking a promotion or even becoming management, can get on track more quickly by enrolling in an online college. The financial and time commitments associated with a traditional campus-based college are more than many on a budget can afford.

For instance, some schools have created Internet-based student unions that allow online bachelors candidates to network with one another. Through these online platforms, these students may be able to offer one another advice on childcare or financial aid and work together on job searches or school-related projects.

Online degree programs encourage students to work together. This makes them feel more at ease with the material that is being covered in the virtual classroom, as well as simulates the experience one would have in a traditional classroom setting. Working in a small group on a project and participating in a student-lead debate – all of these things make the educational experience better.

When you’re trying to balance work and personal life, the idea of college degree seems difficult. But with a program suited to your individual needs, you can pursue your online degree that will improve your knowledge and make yourself a more qualified employee for future promotions or hiring. Everything from an associates to your online bachelor degree is possible, each step taking your further in a better career in this global market.

With Your On Line Degrees Doors Will Open To A Better Future!

As the economic downturn continues to make the job market increasingly competitive, many of today’s professionals are realizing the value of higher education. However, some individuals may be apprehensive about enrolling because they are not sure what they wish to study.  Those who wish to continue working while learning will find college distance learning meets their needs.

Does that sound unfocused? Do you worry you will waste time and money while you try to make up your mind? Maybe your concern is finding a job in your chosen field once you graduate. Perhaps you worry about quitting a current job to go back to school and getting behind professionally.

Getting an associate’s degree through a brick-and-mortar college or an online school is one way to comfort these fears. Because these courses of study can fulfill some of the minimum requirements for higher degrees and entail a smaller financial and time commitment than other programs, they may serve as a good way for students to clarify their interests. Think of an associate’s degree as a way to dip your toe into a career field instead of diving in head first.

Associates degrees usually take two years to complete. The student takes general courses like math, science and writing. Some associates programs also give students introductory courses in a particular field.

For example, a student studying for an associate’s degree in technology, will take courses in physics, computer drafting and programming. They will also have to pass English, math and engineering technology classes. If the student enjoys the course work they may choose to get a related bachelors degree. If they don’t like it, they can change their education plan completely.

An associate’s degree gives the student a solid starting place for their career. They can then choose to pursue a bachelor’s degree, further specializing in the topic. Students who have completed an associates program may actually be able to transfer their courses credits toward a four year degree. That can save them time and money on their education.

Let’s say a student gets an associate’s degree in general technology then decides to pursue a bachelor’s degree in a related field. The courses they completed in the first two years can be used toward a degree in alternative and renewable energy systems, industrial technology management or information technology. The student could choose to transfer these credits to an online college or a brick and mortar university and avoid taking the same fundamental courses again.

Receiving your degree programs online towards your online education is a great way to test your interest in a field while boosting your education. Both of will make your resume more impressive if you are one of the millions of people currently looking for work. An associate’s degree is only two years; it’s a smaller time and financial commitment than a four year degree. However, if you decide a bachelor’s degree is the next step after your associate’s diploma, the course credits can be transferred. Going to school part time or online make sense for students who want their associate’s degree. Both allow more flexibility, which means the student can maintain work or family obligations while they improve their education. Online college work might come in even more creative formats and be quicker to complete, since the Federal Communications Commission in March provided Congress with a plan to expand broadband network access and speed up Internet services.  This very change may allow even more students to obtain college degrees online as services speed up.

The National Broadband Plan is required as part of a federal stimulus bill known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. It’s reportedly intended in part to encourage online education and online education tools and to improve education connectivity.

The Internet is the biggest platform for commercial innovation and business success this country has seen, Congressman Rick Boucher of Virginia told CSPAN. A Strategy for American Innovation report, prepared by the National Economic Council’s Office of Science and Technology Policy, proposes the creation of online college classes where high quality subject expertise meets with the latest technological advancements.

According to the report, the federal government over the next decade wants to spend up to $500 million for creating online college classes at community colleges that, freely available to students, would allow for continued learning and coursework completion. Invitations would be extended to colleges, universities, publications and others to compete in creating state-of-the-art online classes, the report notes.

Many students already take part in online school programs, access a broad array of online databases and link up with worldwide scholars, a broadband plan news release noted. But while reports show that students in online college classes do at least as well academically as students in traditional college classes do, a pilot program at one university suggested that online school work might take more time to complete.

The Internet can be accessed via wireless services, dialup and high speed DSL services offered by telephone companies and by broadband services with wireless and satellite options. Broadband service, with content carried through what the FCC calls a transmission “pipeline”, provides quality access to streaming media, Internet telephone services, games and interactive offerings, according to the FCC’s broadband Web site. More people also want to move toward HD video, Boucher noted. Local telephone carriers have been expanding their fiber-optic networks to accommodate DSL and would continue to receive federal funding until broadband becomes more widely available and even telephone service is carried through the Internet, Boucher said.

President Barack Obama has expressed a desire to make higher education more accessible, and he recently signed an education bill into law that provides more tuition assistance to students pursuing online degrees. For students with work and family responsibilities, higher education often becomes more accessible as a result of online college classes and online degree programs with flexible formats.

The broadband plan calls for increasing download speeds from what Boucher said is as few as 5 megabits per second to 100 megabits per second by 2020 and for achieving upload speeds of 50 megabits for second.  Expanded network connectivity is still needed, the FCC reported. Some 7 million people in the United States don’t have access to broadband network services, Florida Congressman Cliff Stearns told CSPAN. According to Stearns, 95 percent of households have broadband access, and two-thirds of them use high-speed Internet services. Proposals within the broadband plan would reportedly require establishing new laws and agency rules.

With technology and convenience allowing more and more students to obtain their accredited degree, speeding up connections and promoting their associate degree online will help everyone with Internet access.  Those who wish to expand their marketability can earn their associate degree online, while continuing to work and take care of what they need to in their life.

There Is Help With Grants For College Through Obama’s Financial Aid!

The introduction of the American Opportunity Tax Credit had been one of President Obama’s major platforms since he started campaigning for president back in 2007. The only problem with it is this credit is only good for the first two years of a student’s education. That’s great if you’re going for an Associate’s degree, but what if you are in your third year of a four-year plan? Every student working toward college degrees online and on-campus need to be aware of all options available.

Actually, another credit was already there. Called the Lifetime Learning Credit, it was introduced in 2001 with the Hope credit. The Lifetime doesn’t offer as much as the Opportunity credit, yet it covers a larger portion of the population. So one should take the bad with this greater good.

The Lifetime Learning Credit is for students who are in their third year of college, taking post-graduate courses or even going part time with as little as one class. Another key difference is a household can have multiple Learning Credits due to having more than one child in college.

As for the brass tacks of this credit, it gives a student (or the parents of) a 20% tax credit up to the first $10,000, i.e., up to $2,000, for educational expenses including tuition, text books, fees and other education-related items. The expense-related costs are much broader than with the Opportunity credit, and can even include travel if it’s for such things as field research.

There are some important restrictions. The most important is a “phase out” point. This is only for individuals who earn less than $60,000 or for when a couple filing a joint return earns over $120,000 adjusted income to get the Lifetime credit. It’s also important to know this whole matter is handled by the IRS, not the Board of Education, and they will only hand out one check per household, even if it’s for multiple students.

There are some other restrictions. A single person can’t get both an Opportunity and a Lifetime credit; just one or the other. On the other hand, if a parent has two children going to college, both kids can get Lifetime credits (or, for that matter, an Opportunity and a Lifetime for the other).

What must absolutely be understood is the Lifetime is a credit, not a tax deduction. You apply the Lifetime after totaling your taxes, not subtract it from the expenses. The IRS doesn’t allow this kind of double dipping, and could reject the entire thing. There are a number of other peccadilloes the IRS has and some of them can be pretty detailed (such as advancing your education only to get a better job at another company). So one should have the entire tax form reviewed by an accountant before applying for it.

On the plus side though, one could end up with $2,000 off the next taxes, even get money back, if done correctly. No matter how you look at it, that’s one quick way to make your education pay for you. These monies may facilitate further classes to get your online college degree for many students. While many are aware of monies available prior to starting school, such as grants for college, learning about money that can be refunded or credited is a smart way to handle your schooling. There is much more information about scholarships online on the internet.

Money For College Can Be The Answer To Imporving Your Career!

Students interested in pursuing online degrees might consider scholarships to help pay tuition. Researching scholarship opportunities and applying for those best suited to an individual’s talents, studies and career goals might take some time, but could prove well worth the effort. The best online degree is one that leaves the student ready for what comes next, either school, work, or further work study.

Students typically don’t have to repay scholarship money and they can find this assistance through colleges and universities that help students pay for the on campus and online degree programs they offer. Students can also find scholarship money outside of higher education institutions as well.

In fact, students seeking scholarships for online degree programs might not have to look much farther than their own backyards: Community groups, civic organizations, churches and synagogues often award scholarships to students within their communities. Local scholarships for online college endeavors might come from groups such as Rotary International, Kiwanis, the Lion’s Club and chambers of commerce. These scholarships can be awarded based on financial need, demographics, academic achievements, community services, or a combination of these and other factors.

Students interested in pursuing specific studies online might also find local organizations that offer scholarships tailored exclusively to those studies. The Rotary Club of Plainfield and North Plainfield, NJ, as part of its varied scholarship offerings extends tuition assistance in part to engineering majors. Some say that degrees in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) subjects can help fill a demand for qualified workers. The Rotary scholarship is available also to those planning to study art, poetry, journalism and writing. These are areas that might satisfy students’ more basic needs while providing pleasure, a service or both to others.

Students don’t have to be high school graduates to be eligible for scholarships. When it comes to nursing, online college programs are pretty plentiful, Hispanic representation in the field is said to be limited, and some have forecasted a rising nursing shortage as baby boomers age. Nursing and health occupation students in their senior year at a specific Texas school can apply for a scholarship of up to $2,000 from the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in El Paso. Underrepresented minority groups in and out of the nursing and health care professions can also find scholarships through organizations such as the Tucson and Greater Austin Hispanic chambers of commerce and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

Students might not think to look toward large companies such as Wal-Mart, which have a presence in many local communities. But these and other corporate giants offer tuition assistance, and information about their scholarships can be obtained on the Internet.

Several non-profit organizations and industry associations with web presences also offer scholarships, as well as fellowships, that might be available in exchange for fieldwork. The federal government offers work study participation, as well as Pell grants that, provided on the basis of financial needs, don’t have to be repaid.

After any student loans or work study offerings are considered, students might consider loans to help pay tuition. The federal government offers low-interest student loans that typically don’t require credit checks or collateral and that don’t have to be repaid until after graduation. A bit of searching for the aid for your online degree education will uncover resources, Pell grants and more, that can assist your college experience. If you are looking for more information about life experience degree, check the internet.
